The work explores the articulatory gestures of vocalizing verbal language. Drawing from phonetics and speech therapy sessions, the work lingers in a space before words - in the production of sounds as a choreography of body movements, a dance of muscles and organs. Through the lens of the camera, it brings the attention to the micro/macro movements of the body that are activated in uttering a sound. The close-up view and the discrepancy between sound and image, lead to a sense of estrangement and invite for a shift in perspective in an ordinary event.

A short correspondence between two human beings discovering their bodies in a Portuguese grammar book. The writing emerges through a process of subtraction. On the pages words are floating among traces of absent words. That absence creates a space for the words to echo, resonate and sink into the body of the reader - opening for multiple interpretations and imaginaries.
